What KaneAI is
LambdaTest is now TestMu AI. LambdaTest renamed itself TestMu AI on 12 January 2026. The company says its team, infrastructure and customer accounts are unchanged, and lambdatest.com now redirects to testmuai.com (TestMu AI).
KaneAI is TestMu AI's "GenAI-native testing agent" for planning, writing and evolving end-to-end tests in natural language. LambdaTest introduced it in August 2024, with a private beta from 21 August (press release). This summary comes from TestMu AI's own pages, not a hands-on KaneAI review. As of September 2026:
- Authoring. Start from a Jira ticket, PRD, PDF, screenshot or spreadsheet, or click through a flow once, and KaneAI turns it into test steps. It handles conditions, loops and reusable modules, and versions every change.
- People in the loop. You review each plan before it runs, can pause and correct the agent mid-run, and decide what each failed step means. Self-healing updates steps when locators change and shows the diff for review.
- Coverage. Desktop browsers, mobile web and native mobile apps (KaneAI docs), plus API, database, network and accessibility checks, with a WCAG audit on every test. A beta feature validates GitHub pull requests.
- Execution. Tests run on TestMu AI's cloud, which it says spans 3,000+ browser and operating system combinations and 10,000+ real devices, and they export to Selenium, Playwright, Cypress or Appium.
Kane CLI brings the same engine to the terminal for developers and coding agents.
Why teams look for a KaneAI alternative
Teams that look for a KaneAI alternative are rarely short of browsers or devices. They usually want a different result from their QA.
- A suite to write and look after. Natural language makes tests quicker to write, but it is still a suite that people plan, review and maintain. Some teams want each release judged against their requirements without building one first.
- Metered by agents and credits. KaneAI is licensed per agent, and cloud runs, self-healing and root-cause analysis draw on monthly credits. Estimate your usage before you commit.
- Evidence for the release decision. Test results and root-cause analysis serve engineers well, but a product owner deciding whether to ship needs a plain record of what was checked, what failed, what is unclear and what was not covered.
- A whole platform for one job. TestMu AI is a broad testing cloud; a team that only needs each release checked may not need the rest.
In fairness, KaneAI already plans from tickets and PRDs and keeps a person in the loop. The question is whether you want faster test writing, or a checked and signed answer for each release.
KaneAI vs ShipperAG at a glance
KaneAI helps you write and run tests at scale; ShipperAG checks each release against your context and hands you evidence. Here is how they compare as of September 2026.
| Aspect | KaneAI | ShipperAG |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Quality engineering teams, from solo developers to large organisations | Product and engineering teams that need evidence to approve each release |
| Approach | A testing agent that plans, writes and evolves tests in natural language, then runs them on TestMu AI's cloud | AI QA specialists check each release against your requirements, design system and business rules |
| Who writes and maintains tests | Your team, with KaneAI drafting plans and steps and self-healing them for review | No suite to write: a coordinator picks the specialists each change needs, within your limits |
| How findings are checked | AI root-cause analysis; people triage failed steps | An independent verifier re-runs every finding in a fresh session; deterministic checks decide pass or fail |
| Evidence and sign-off | Test runs and versioned tests, bug tickets drafted into your tracker, audit logs on Enterprise | Verified, Issue found, Needs input and Not covered, sealed in an evidence ledger, plus a shareable report for sign-off |
| Browsers and devices | A large cloud of browsers, operating systems and real devices, plus native mobile apps | Chromium only, including phone and tablet sizes by emulation; Firefox, Safari and real devices not covered |
| What you keep | Tests exported to Selenium, Playwright, Cypress or Appium | The evidence ledger and a shareable report for each release |
| Pricing model (as published) | Per agent: $19, $99 or $199 a month on credit plans; Enterprise custom | From $149 a month, after a free 45-day trial |
| Availability | Available now | Private pilot (waitlist) |

KaneAI pricing, as published
As of October 2026, KaneAI is licensed per agent on monthly credit plans (TestMu AI pricing):
- Starter: $19 per agent a month, with 2,000 credits and local authoring through Kane CLI.
- Pro: $99 per agent a month, with 12,000 credits, cloud web authoring and 100 HyperExecute minutes.
- Max: $199 per agent a month, with 25,000 credits, cloud web and mobile authoring and 300 HyperExecute minutes.
- Enterprise: custom pricing, with unlimited credits, single sign-on and dedicated support.
Annual billing lowers them to $17, $89 and $179, and every plan includes a Test Manager seat per agent. There is no free KaneAI plan, but as of October 2026 there is a 14-day free trial (KaneAI), and TestMu AI's free tier, with no card needed, lets you try Kane CLI with local authoring. ShipperAG starts at $149 a month for 20 release checks, after a free 45-day trial; it is in a private pilot.
Where ShipperAG is different
KaneAI makes writing and running tests faster. As a KaneAI alternative, ShipperAG removes the writing step: you give it context, and it returns evidence.
- Context, not test steps. Connect a preview or staging URL and add your requirements, design system or brand tokens, business rules and API docs. The coordinator reads the change and picks the specialists it needs, within your limits.
- Real checks decide. Specialists use a real Chromium browser, HTTP and API calls, automated accessibility rules and visual comparison against your design tokens. A model's opinion alone never marks anything verified.
- An independent re-check. The verifier re-runs every finding in a fresh session before it reaches the report.
- Four plain states. Verified, Issue found, Needs input (the requirements were unclear or contradictory, so it asks instead of guessing) and Not covered.
- Evidence ledger. Results are sealed in a hash-chained ledger, and a self-contained HTML report goes to the people who approve the release.

When KaneAI is the better choice
KaneAI sits inside a large cross-browser and real-device cloud, and for many teams that settles it. KaneAI is the better choice when:
- You need Safari, Firefox, Edge or real devices. ShipperAG covers Chromium only, with phone and tablet sizes emulated. KaneAI runs on TestMu AI's cloud of browsers, operating systems and real devices.
- You test native mobile apps. KaneAI writes and runs native app tests; ShipperAG does not test native apps.
- You want tests as code. KaneAI exports to Selenium, Playwright, Cypress and Appium.
- You need enterprise controls today. Single sign-on, role-based access and audit logs, with test work inside Jira and Azure DevOps.
- You already use LambdaTest. Existing accounts, scripts and integrations carry over to TestMu AI.
- You need to start now. KaneAI is available today; ShipperAG is a private pilot.
Our guide to AI browser testing explains why the browser engine matters: a pass in Chromium says nothing certain about Safari.
What ShipperAG does not do
ShipperAG is new, and it is not right for every job:
- It is not generally available or self-serve. It is a private pilot with a waitlist: teams start with a free 45-day trial with up to 20 release checks, and paid plans start at $149 a month.
- It runs in Chromium only. Phone and tablet sizes are emulated with touch; Firefox and Safari (WebKit) rendering and real devices are not covered, and reports list them as not covered.
- It does not test native mobile apps; it checks the web build you connect by URL.
- It only tests targets you own or have written permission to test, and it stays inside the hosts you allow.
Other KaneAI alternatives
ShipperAG is not the only KaneAI alternative. Others to compare:
- mabl, an agentic testing platform for web, mobile, API, accessibility and performance testing, with quote-based pricing and a 14-day free trial (mabl pricing). See our mabl alternative comparison.
- testRigor, which builds test automation from plain-English instructions for web, mobile and desktop apps (testRigor). See our testRigor alternative comparison.
- TestSprite, a self-serve AI testing agent that works inside your coding agent, with a free plan (TestSprite pricing). See our TestSprite alternative comparison.
